iT aLL sTARTED WITH …

It all started with Owner, Hal Rosbach, back in 1990. Hal devoted much of his time to the post-Hurricane Hugo reconstruction efforts in St. Croix. Amidst this challenging period, he discovered a deep-seated passion for diving, particularly drawn to the captivating diversity and allure of the Cane Bay Wall area.

During those early days, most dive operators congregated in Christiansted, necessitating lengthy and expensive boat journeys to reach the Wall. Dissatisfied with the constraints imposed by distant dive operations, Hal chose to explore his cherished spot directly from the beach.

As Hal immersed himself in the abundance of dive opportunities and experienced the ease of accessing the Wall from shore, the vision for Cane Bay Dive Shop began to crystallize. Determined to redefine the standards of “diver-friendly” service, Hal envisioned a shop that prioritized unparalleled flexibility to cater to each customer’s unique schedule and preferences.

Since Hurricane Maria, Cane Bay Dive has operated from the Frederiksted shop directly across from the pier. Hal and Suzanne have proudly owned and operated this particular shop location since 1996.

The vessel IBIS departs from Salt River Marina Dock on most days, providing access to all the fabulous dive sites along the wall from Hams Bluff to Salt River. When diving the west end sites- wrecks, reefs, and pier the boat departs from the Frederiksted Pier.
